my biography

I started writing songs in the middle of the 80:s.

My main instrument is the cello and I've played pieces like e.g. Boccerini's cello concerto. I started learning the mandolin and improvising around the age of 25.

My influences then were - and in many senses still are - classical music, e.g. J.S. Bach, progressive rock music, e.g. Genesis, Jethro Tull, Jazz, e.g. Pat Metheny, Keith Jarret, and traditional Keltic and Swedish music e.g. Planxty and Ranarim.

An important goal for me is always to make strong melodies. I love the blend of uncommon sound combinations and rythms.

This is my first attemt to try rerecording my oldest songs.

In addition to making my own music, I play in a Swedish traditional band (Herr Arnes Penningar - http://continue.to/herrarnespenningar), a pop duo (Blue Lime - http://www.myspace.com/realbluelime) and have a studio project (Studio Öst).

Hej Setnanders!

Polskan och "The Road" är två kononlåtar. Trevliga rytmer.

Ha det bra.

Hi Anders,
Really refreshing music, very beautiful.
The Road is a very nice song, with a Mike Oldfield touch, you have my vote on that.
Wishing you all the best,

Jef

Very nice songs Stenanders. "Med livet om livet" makes my thoughts fly back to the Swedish groups in the 70's inspired by folkmusic and Millans voice is perfect for the style. "The Road" on the other hand clearly carries the spirit of Mike Oldfield and Steeleye Span. Your singing style is the same as the singer in Caravan (also a wonderful group)as Mindmovie pointed out. I love your mandolin & cello playing.

Hello there Anders. Thanks for your compliments!
How long is it since you moved? I moved to Växjö June 2000 and moved to Rottne in April this year.

No, The track hasn't been in radio. MI7 is the first place I've got it to, besides a copy to a neighbour of us. I think you might recognize it from the Holly Dolly Song that went popular around 2 years ago I think. Holly Dolly Song is a cover on the "Levan Polkka" originally made by Loituma from Finland. The track I made is also a cover on that song.

I listened to the songs from Herr Arnes Penningar and I like them. Good work! The version of "Staffan Stalledräng" is different from the one I'm used to. I like your version.

Hi friend and thanks a lot for your compliments. Yes I receive a comparison with the great Peter Gabriel as a compliment. (Wish I could sing like him)

Hi Anders, I stopped by and listened to your tracks. I like them both. The sounding of the beginning of "The road" lead my thoughts to one of Mike Oldfields tracks, I can't recall the track name at the moment. Pleasant anyway. Good work you and your wife has done.
I'm curious about the traditional band you are playing in. Do you tour? Have you been there a long time?
Cello is a wonderful instrument. Do you have any recording on a cello performance you've done?

Have a great day!

Just listenend to The Road and had a nice surprise. The song and arrangement reminds me on one of my very old favourite bands - Caravan - like your style. Greetz from Duesseldorf
