my biography

In case, dear Mi7 artist, you arrive here, first, I am really HE. But I'm using this space to highlight the collaborative efforts between myself and other empathetic Mi7 souls, rather than my solo pursuits, also to be found on ARTIE Q’s page. I am featured, as well, on MonAmi’s page, and though Mr. Woods is not an active Mi7 member, he is with us in spirit.
All my very best wishes to all you Mi7 folk who collaborate with one another across the wires. This is an amazing time to be alive; this kind of communication and creative endeavour was unheard of twenty years ago. We are so lucky to have this opportunity; we are so lucky to have Mi7. Good luck—Tear it up, Boys & Girls! RTQ
Ps. Tracks 'Rain' & 'Wherever' are also to be found on this cd

Title: THE BIRTHING
Me_n_im
Description: POP ©2008. A Collaboration with MINDMOVIE ..."YES, Boys & Girls, The Man, The Flaming Bess Legend known as 'Mindmovie'—The Winner of competitions far and wide; The Holder of The Duende Whatnot Thingamajig machine that takes his music compositions to even greater heights; The Musician who's been playing guitar 35 years but it's not that important to him anymore, he's more into production and songs; The Dude who makes employees @ the Hallowed Mi7 Halls tremble in their boots when he asks a technical question (like, 'where's my f**ckin' prize, dude?' for example), has deigned to bestow a musical ‘crumb’ on a previous fellow collaborator, My Mi7 Collabs ('erhm,' that would be me, folks) ... and this is what they have produced: THE BIRTHING.” There is a life and death struggle at the start of existence; it is called Birth. This is one male's or it could very easily be one female's story. (Only after a certain point in the tale, that is, of course.) Lyrics on my blog. Nice one, Achim!
Title: FALLING
Falling
Description: POP ©2008 An old man surveys a "sea" of graves; they belong to his fallen comrades from a war long ago. He ponders why he survived and they didn’t. In the song, he returns to his youth and the horrors of the battlefield. It was not “faith” that kept his hopes alive in the heat of battle, but the thought of seeing his beloved, again. Though he survives, one image is forever etched in his memory: Falling Down ... Getting Up and Falling Down. A collaboration with Jef De Corte. (The very wonderful Aeronaut, of course.) Illustration by Jef De Corte. More on my blog. Check out Jef's page, here on Mi7, http://community.mi7.com/profile/4750
Title: WHEREVER YOU GO
Rob_2
Description: POP ©2008 A Woods/Quinn (MonAmi) collaboration with a few bluesy touches from guitar maestro, Laurence Whiteley. David (Woods), who lives on the south coast of England, sent me (in LA) a backing track in the late summer of 2007. It was in such bad quality, I felt like it had been left in the rain for 3 months and then in the sun to dry. Even in this reprehensible state the basic song was "Catchy as F**k" ... I just had to put my two cents in. So, David sent me all the composit audio files with instructions. I, of course, ignored them all and went with what I wanted—"Erhh, It's All About Me!" 8—), embellished a few parts, added the vocals ... and thought, "Hmmm, something is missing." So I called up my lifelong pal, Laurence Whiteley, who's a dab hand on the electric guitar and asked him to send me a few licks. Laurence, being a creative and magnanimous soul, sent me 9 hours (Yes ... that would be, NINE) of guitar. I distilled it all down to 30 seconds of stuff I could use, and threw away the rest! It's OK, though, he still loves me, and I am eternally grateful to him for his selfless creative gifts. Let me know what you think, dear Mi7 artists. RTQ
Title: IN THE RAIN
S_times_another_pic
Description: POP ©2008 Mix #14,023. Collaboration with the very wonderful AUDIOTECHNICA (AT — http://community.mi7.com/profile/7728) and the equally wonderful LAURENCE WHITELEY (UK Blues Guitarist). Guitar solo @ end, Lister Coleman. This was quite a back and forth operation. My admiration of AT’s talents are well documented. If you’re interested you can read further, on AUDIOTECHNICA's page. (Blogs) My last word on the matter is in the form of a quote.“ ‘Ee’s a lovely man, that audiotechnica; though, he’ll try ‘n tell you he ain’t!”
Title: ON THE BEACH
Beach-2
Description: POP ©2008 Collaboration with MINDMOVIE (Mr. Ambassador/TheFutureDude http://community.mi7.com/profile/5503), based on a Woods/Quinn (MonAmi http://community.mi7.com/profile/9373) composition from eons ago. This track was languishing in the mire of The "Gone and Never to be Un-Forgotten" Song Slush Pile, however, that was before Mr. M got his hands on it. I have to say that apart from one or two guitar suggestions on the part of Laurence Whiteley, Mindmovie was the musical architect of this song. Everything ‘cept the whistling and vocals are his concept. I am an admirer of his production and musical skills, guitar playing, patience, complete professionalism, engineer’s ears, oh yeah and apart from all that, he’s a great guy, too. More than once he brought me to my senses when I was freaking out over some technical issue. I learned a lot working with TheFutureDude. Thank you, M. Big Hugs. Love those grooves, dude!

Hi there RT,

Nice rythm in "The Birthing"!!!

Your comments means a lot to me, I like that you’re straight forward in your opinions about my music. And thanks for listnening! I’m very aware that my music isn’t easy listening up everyones sleeve… And your’re right about “beginners”, “crecendos” and so on… Well, I’m staring to know the equipment I’ve got, trying to make the most of it and I’m making more music not connected to a specific story (wich means less crecendos).

If you like trains, I’ve got a new kind of piece uploaded. About... err... trains.

Keep up the good work! And these collaborations must be fun!

Hi and thanks so much for your comments!

Its always good to have another "ear" listening! And yes, always a battle or someone dying around the corner... Ah well. When music is following a specific story so closely I guess theres a lot of crecendos... On the other hand, I choose the most easy listening of the nightmares for the "suite". Or what do I know, heck, I'm a total beginner!!!
But I'm longing to do more stuff not bonded to a sspecific story soon.

I see you've uploaded some new stuff. Nice, I like them all, especially "falling". Nice mood and feeling in that one.

Take care friend

Hey Arti & Jef - what a nice collaboration. Great vocals and harmony vocals and Jef's very sad arrangements a perfect song to make me cry. pretty exiting to hear the two of you together on such a magic anti war song. My honest compliments and love to both of you.

Hi My Mi7 Collabs!

Thank you for nice words about "Everyday".
You are right about that the song is very sixties and yes it was intentional. I really love The Beatles you know. :o)

I have listen to all your songs. Very good work! Clear productions and nice sounds on all the songs.
I like "On The Beach" best. Very nice leadsong. The song is a mix of feelings. The vers a little bit dark and the refrain happy. I am weak for that kind of songs. :o)

Take care/Chilly
