my biography

I am a singer/vocalist. My forte is Classical (Baritone), Chant, and difficult or unusual pieces. I really like to sing all kinds of songs - Ballads,Ancient Music,Crooner-style, Experimental, Romantic....I also play the cello.

My current offerings on this site:
1. Where do feelings come from? (cookies & milk version)is a philosophical musings couched in a tender melody sung with my friend Kaer Trouz.
2.Welcome Home - this song was written for my friend Kaer Trouz as a housewarming gift. Later she actually did the back-up vocals. I love singing with her as its always an adventure in sound. In this offering she sounds, to me at least, like the voices of French School-children angels circling in and around my delivery. Thanks to both Phillipe and Michel for helping me with the beautiful melody and mixing.
3. Counting Clouds - a laid back and surreal romp through cloud images
4. Lost At Sea - music by Costas Dafnis - a contemporary sea ballad - an anthem style song about leaving all life's cares behind and sailing off with a soul-mate...
&
5. The Aetrhobast - a romp through theosophical galmor and scientific caution sung with the Kiev Seminary Choir and the music of Terry Frye.

Title: Welcome Home
Fbb4582a
Description: This song was written for my friend Kaer Trouz as a housewarming gift. Later she actually did the back-up vocals. I love singing with her as its always an adventure in sound. In this offering she sounds, to me at least, like the voices of French School-children angels circling in and around my delivery. Thanks to both Phillipe and Michel for helping me with the beautiful melody and mixing. Lyrics: welcome home its where your heart is/ you’re not alone/ everything you love is here/ everything you love is here/ Through all seasons/ sunshine and rain/ these walls enclose and soothe/ every joy or pain/ every pain…or joy………./ outside the windows/ gardens and trees/ pastures and hillsides/ stretch towards the sea (miles and miles out to sea)/ The world awaits you/ with open hands/ small town or city/ your friends may be found/ (yes your friends may be found) But always a welcome/ resides in your soul/ when through these doors/ in my arms enfold/ in my arms enfold………../ (additional French Lyrics)/ Jour après mois/ Qu’il chauffe ou pleuve/ Ces murs nichent et couvent/ Tes joies et tes peines/ Tes peines et tes joies/ Ce monde-là t’attend/ Les mains grandes ouvertes/ De ville en village/ Tes amis tu les trouveras/ Ça oui, tu les trouveras
Title: Lost At Sea
Sailor_valentine
Description: Lyrics: - and when we sail away/ i want to hear you say/ i've been with you all along/ speculators doubt, say/ "what could be so great about/ a life spent sailing on and on?" |we only listen through each other's ears/ our only comfort's what the whole world fears/ i breathe thoughts of you breathe thoughts of me/ time can't find us while we're lost at sea| a million miles unfold/ a million years of gold/ but we don't need one more/ a million echoes ring/ to laugh to drink to sing/ |our only vision's through each other's eyes/ the world can't touch our heart until it dies/ laughing, drinking, singing selfishly/ time can't reach us while we're on the sea| and when we sail away/ i want to hear you say/ i've been with you all along
Title: Where Do Feelings Come from?
485px-boy_and_girl_posed__standing__holding_large_cup
Description: Where Do Feelings Come from? (cookies & Milk Version with singer Kaer Trouz) - Lyrics;- Where do feelings come from? Do they come from above? Are they made by Christmas angels Or little devils on parole? Are we all but martyrs Or do we have a hand In shaping our decisions? Can we make an honest stand? Are there tiny fairies in the toy-shop Of our minds… Fabricating stories to tie to our behinds? Like cats with bells on tails tied We clamor and we wail… The pangs of conscience clothe us In numbing coats of mail. Where do feelings come from? Are they dished out from on high? Why do some taste so bad… And others sweet as apple pie? Can we trade them in for a model Shiny, new and neat… Or must we just like Marley, Drag those chains about our feet?
Title: The Aethrobast
Heartsong
Description: Aethrobasy is an obscure word meaning “walking in air” or levitation. In this offering I contemplate the possible consequences of spiritual glamor and the dizzying effects of probing unfathomable mysteries. -Lyrics: - Walking on water rising through air ascend golden stairways Heaven is there Astral projections prophetic dreams the world of illusion is not what it seems Ask Madame Blavatsky bare-breasted at noon Her baboon de-evolving turns his pink ass to the moon Ask Aleister Crowley to clean up his mess his spells and addictions we need to confess We’ve loved what was hidden We’ve loved what is lost now awestruck and homesick we turn and we toss How many angels can dance on a pin? Is looking too deeply a science or sin?
Title: Counting Clouds
Waving-cloud
Description: A song of imagination (Mike Patterson on Guitar) Lyrics: We sat on the edge of the old town’s wooden pier - Legs dangling in the gulf’s green waters - We watched as wild birds cut through the air - And huge clouds formed above us… Look there’s a woman with a big bouffant wig - There’s the profile of your Uncle Harry - A wreath of roses ‘round the neck of a leaping horse - A figure of the Virgin Mary… There’s a whale…no is it a buffalo? - I see a track and the locomotive - That one looks like my old classical guitar - The church’s shrine and some melting votives… An army marching to a castle wall - A chubby girl and an oversized beach ball - And old French chair and a tattered sailor’s cap - A fuzzy cat curled up for an evenings nap… In your eyes clouds glide by - Clouds glide by in your eyes - There’s the trellis of the garden gate - A knife, a fork and a broken plate - The craggy coastline of the south of Spain - A rooster sitting on a weather-vane…. In your eyes clouds glide by…………………….

Hi Anchor,
For some reason I got no email notification of your and Raven's comments, but did just now get pietgluk's. Glad you liked "Ignatz Hesitates", a mighty fine compliment indeed! (though Joni was subject to many unflattering remarks about those excursions, I've never found a reason to add to the flak ;-))
As always, your music is wonderfully layered and unhesitating.

Hello Anchor,

Always feel free to contact me should you be in the neighbourhood.

Regarding Liquid Nitrogen: part of my own feelings come from the difficult creative process I have to go through most of the time. But thanks for your words of encouragement.

Regards,

Michel.

Armin van Buuren, a famous DJ and one of George Ellinas' favourites, is also born in Leiden. Like Rembrandt, I should add to that, because I am originally from the south east of the country. Have you also visited Maastricht? In my not so humble opinion, the most beautiful dutch city. And I don't say that because it's the capitol of the province where I was born. ;-)

Hello Anchor,

Thanks for the kind words. You know, it started out as a bit of fun, but then you still try to make something decent out of it. I am glad you liked it.

Btw, I myself am not from Amsterdam. I was only visiting a friend of mine who lives there. I live in Leiden, a small town famous for being the birthplace of...? (that's a trivia question for you...he he he...)

Regards,

Michel.

Hey Anchor, I trust you are well?

Swung by to listen, again, to my fave rave of yours, I'm Fine. It conjures up nostalgic images of grammar school sunny days and Someset Maugham scenarios; your words and the piano, here, almost suggest another century to me. (Oh-oh, that was meant to be a compliment! 8—)) I am luxuriating in this melancholic state before returning to the rigours of life. "Hah!" Thanks for the moment of respite. Again. RT

thanks for your nice note, AM!

"There’s a whale…no is it a buffalo?" now that's an instant classic line. You must have switched to "infinite improbability drive" for than one :-)

The intro to cascade of souls is priceless !

Well, m'sieur, this is a very pleasant surprise. I have heard other people's interpretation of your vocals, so it's really nice to hear your own selection of tracks.
My favourites are easily "counting clouds" and "I'm fine". The 80s style bass guitar playing on counting clouds feels just right with your vocals.
My experience at ccmixter and realworldremixed has really shown me how different compositions can bring out such different aspects of the same vocals - and yours have inspired quite a lot of people to put in their best effort.
Good to see you here - thanks for your comments and invite.
