Projekt67
Simon van Weelden and Erna Berendsen are the core-members of this group. On stage Projekt67 works together with other musicians. The music of Projekt67 is often described as cinematic. Many of the songs have emerged from improvisations. Because of the many layers and the way the music stretches out over time, the listener is taken on a musical trip. The sound has been compared with the music of
musicians like David Sylvian, Daniël Lanois, Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. Pink Floyd has also been mentioned by listeners.
Why the name?
Simon: “The word 'Projekt' in our name refers to the fact that we approach everything we do as a project. With every song, every concert, we work towards a product. And with every following project we are completely free to choose any approach we like. Secondly, we invented an empty name,
hoping that the people who will get to know our music, will fill it up with whatever the music means to them. 67 refers to Simon's year of birth.
Projekt67's history
Simon and Erna have played together ever since 1999, since 2003 as Projekt67. November 2004, they released their first album, which still can be listened to at www.projekt67.com. For years now, Projekt67 has been contributing to the Hammock-concerts “Stiltetuin de Stroetenhof” in Emmen.
March 2007, Simon and Erna, together with the dancers of dance-theatre “Marae” arranged a wellreceived show about ERD (emotion regulation disorder) for the Kwartiermakersfestival” in Groningen.
