my biography

Staffan Ridaeus

Denmark’s Staffan Ridaeus of the band Party Boulevard brings sweet musical intelligence to his rock music, which delivers on the pop friendliness while keeping the smarts intact through a delicate hint of progressive elements. Ridaeus music is a harmonious blend of beautiful melodies, rock grooves and hook-laden energy. His accessibility is matched only by his distinctive musical personality and creative integrity.

A Song Is A World To Explore

Music is more than just ear candy. At least, that’s the case with good music. Some pop is drivel, shallow and unimpressive, fleeting and forgettable. But Ridaeus’ music impresses with by indulging in poppy listener-friendliness without sacrificing artistic credibility. It’s both smart and pop, a combination that is all too rare. But Ridaeus says that a song is more than a moment’s entertainment. It is a realm unto itself and a good song should invite us to explore. “When I hear great music, I can really sink into the universe of that specific song and experience something like a journey,” he declares. ‘It’s like feeling you are traveling in a new land or world or even planet.”

Emotion Over Mechanism

Some artists get so caught up in the tweaks, bells and whistles of songwriting that the real impact of the music – the emotions – is overshadowed by excess exercise in technique. For Ridaeus, the emotive power of music is up front; its vitality never plays second fiddle. “In songwriting, feeling is more important than all the technical aspects. Write what you feel and make sure it gets across.” Which isn’t to say the quality and structure of his songs suffers. But Ridaeus is careful never to let his music fall out of balance. The construction of the song is the building of the vehicle to convey the real meat of the music – its heart. “Technique is fun in itself and I like to play around with it, but I don’t let it become more important than the feeling.”

The Artist at Work

Ridaeus has served as vocalist and guitarist for the group Party Boulevard for more than a decade, helping lay a strong foundation for the band, which has earned a staunch fan base for the musically devoted Danes. Ridaeus and Party Boulevard have had the privilege of working with a number of leading acts in Denmark and have performed countless shows in a variety of venues. It’s been valuable experience for Ridaeus. “I have learned something throughout the years about music and also the recording process and can produce albums (including the cover design). This is something I enjoy a lot and have produced several CDs through the years.” Ridaeus has a quality home studio that took him a long time to set up, but his patience has paid off. “I can produce a complete CD right there!” He’s at work on a number of projects, including his own and those of fellow musical artists. Ridaeus is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.

“Ridaeus’ songwriting and performances charm with bright flavors and earnestness.” – A&R Select

Hi Staffan,
Thanks for your inventation. Your music has a very clear and profesionel sound. That is something I aim for. I like deja vu..a catchy song. Talk to me is a very relaxing lovesong...realy like it. I played it serveral times. The lyricks is something you can improve. There to plain for my tast, but what do I know. A lot off big hits do have poor lyricks.

Hey Staffan!
Tusind tak for din opløftende kommentar!

Just thought I would stop in here and say hello, Staffan. So ... HELLO!

OK ... I see that all my comments on your page have disapeared again, this one will probably do the same, hope you get to read it first.
yeah ... ain`t nothing like a good manual on a rainy day. Of course there`s always trial-and-error. You can save a lot of time by reading the manual though, but then again you dont make the same kind of (sometimes) interesting mistakes when you know what you`re doing.

Hej Staffan.
Om något mer skulle hända eller försvinna igen så använd gärna "bug report" så kommer det till rätt person på en gång. Det har tydligen varit något konstigt men jag fick besked om att allt ska vara ok,
Mvh

Ooooooo this kicks in the best meaning of the word, Staffan. It had me tapping my toe from the minute it started and right to the last note. Nice smooth vocals.

Line 6 POP and POD Pro directly into the mixing console. I am fed up using racks bigger than a fridge which I did in the 80s. So to me the amp simulation is ok and I do not miss tube amps anymore.

Well I'm using PC, because allot good plugins work only on PC platform.

Like the DiscoDSP discovery I love the sound of that VST synth it's very transparant and full.
If I chose 2x oversampling it takes 60-70% of my CPU.
But the sound is perfect.
