my biography

Erik started his musical career in the early nineties, producing various (unreleased) tracks with “Fasttracker” in the attic at home. Soon he was also spinning old style and hardcore records for a radio station called “radio Dragana” as "Dj Haze."

In 1994 he made a lot of mix tapes, which were given away to anyone who liked his style. In the same year Erik made a mix cd called “Dj Haze presents: Hardcore illusion”. The cd was sold in a local record store in Purmerend (place of birth), The Netherlands.

In 1996 Erik won a mix contest on New Dance Radio and frequently performed live in the radio show together with Dj Unity and Dione. After a couple of guest columns in a magazine (Thunder Magazine) and a lot of airplay Dj Haze was voted best hardcore dj by Dj Dione, together with Dj Pavo in 1997.

Soon he was invited to show his dj skills on a part in “De Waakzaamheid” where he met an old school friend. They decided to join forces and started performing together as dj duo "Haze & Abyss" Together they played at several parties like “Thunderdome on tour” and oldstyle parties in and near Amsterdam.

After their successful techno/hardtrance performance at one of the first “Qlubtempo” parties in Zaandam in 2002 they became well known guests at Q-dance parties like “Qlubtempo”. “Club Q-Base”, “Qlimax” and “DefQon1”

Through the years Erik performed together with Gevrey on parties like “Mysteryland”, “Dutchtechno” and many, many more trough the Netherlands and Germany.

At the end of 2003 Erik and Gevrey decided to follow their own path.

Nowadays Erik is combining the darker side of techno with hardstyle and hardtrance for his dj sets and productions to create his own unique "Haze" sound.

He also started a project together with his partner Sarah Dutrieux called "Retrospect". They are producing different styles of music like: Techno, Break-Beat, Trance and more.
