my biography

This been-there-done-that stuff is not really me, but ...

The old stuff - played piano and clarinet since youth - in various classical orchestras, later changed the clarinet to saxophone and genre to jazz ... something to do with girls, I remember.
Since that didn't have the desired effect I ended up wandering through a variety of genres - but still feel a little reluctant about reggae and country ;-) .
Later I learned a little bass, drum, guitar and conducting.

I've been teaching a lot - mostly piano (all genres), saxophone and right now just plain music.

Write and direct 2-3 youth-musicals per year and been recently using Cubase in that proces, would like to spend a little more time on misc. unplanned projects.

There's just so little time in the world when you're involved in music but also art, writing and juggling and ...

my sounds

Title: Wonderful Mile
Noalbum_80
Description: Would have been a classic brit-pop song had it not been for the jazz-bridge and bigband ending. The vocal could need some work and expansion - but I like it as a neat little demo-mix.

Hi Bebob,

I am afraid I must agree with workinprogress that Wonderful Mile sounds nice, but part of it is just to similar to the famous Grease song. I am well aware that these kind of things can happen unconsciously when you are writing music. If it would happen to me I would rewrite the part in question or forget about the whole song... Shit happens, they say.

Wishing you all the best,

Jef

it's good, very good...
the "wonderful mile" verse is maybe a little bit to close to "Grease", but the jazzy parts make it special

Cheers

Hi Bebob, how are you today? I've set out on listening and voting for my virtual friends (if required).
The style of your demo 'Wonderful Mile' reminds me of an artist from the early 70's John Simon. Your voice's got a touch of Brian Ferry's.
Please check out my songs and vote for me, if you like them… thanks!
Greetings and good luck with your music from the Netherlands,
Richard

Thank you for commenting on my tracks. Yes you are right, they have a definite touch of the 80:s (a bit overproduced by todays standard, I know) and yes I like the old Genesis record and Peter Gabriels. I used to write songs for acoustic guitar (which is my main instrument) but then I got fascinated by synthesizers and that`s the road I`m on.
I like your demo, you should consider producing it a bit more though, for some reason it made me think of Paul Simon (I like his music) he`s got a bit of jazz i his arrangements too.
