my biography

"What happens when you mix rock, blues, soul and even country with a hint of the islands? You get Hi Tide. Anyone who has visited the Cayman Islands recently would tell you that a must see is Hi Tide".

As a founding member of Hi Tide, I have been writing and playing in bands since 1984 and formed Hi Tide in 1994.

Prior to the formation of Hi Tide, Shane, (lead vocals and congas) lived and worked in Nashville, Tennessee where he preformed regularly on TNN with many country greats such as Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Nicolette Larson, Randy Travis etc.............

Since 1994, Hi Tide has been busy playing full time in Cayman as well as taking time out to perform with and open for the likes of Bon Jovi, Jimmy Cliff, Third World, Shabba, The Jeff Healy Band, Garbage, Sheryl Crow, Gregory Issak, Al Jareau, and Natalie Cole .

In 1997, we received the runner-up honors in The Rhythms of The Caribbean Competition sponsored by Island Records and The New Yorker Magazine and were considered the 3rd best group in the Caribbean. Since then we have represented The Cayman Islands at The Summer Concert Series in Boston, The Caribbean Tourism Convention in Aruba and the 1999 EARTH Awareness Festival in Live Oak, Florida. Our song “Unity” was also chosen as the theme song for the EARTH Awareness Festival 2000. They have also toured in South Florida, Hawaii, France, England and Canada.

Of course, we receive extensive air play on Cayman’s radio stations, but we have also been featured on Westwood One’s top 100 countdown as import of the week and two songs from their album, Begin Again “That’s what I’d do” and “In your Kiss” received regular air play on top 40 radio in the USA.

Our title song for our third album 'Open Invitation' is now the welcoming song for the Cayman Islands, for TV and Radio Internationaly. In Febuary 2008 we opened for Emmy Lue Harris for a charity event (Stay Focus) under an amazing stary night.

my influences

I have a lot of influences not one particular person or group, as far as I'm concerned music is my influence I have no genere. It's all good, but I do like originality in the artist from the sound of the vocals to the arrangments. To be simple is as great as the most complicated compositions, my hat is off to those who see beyond the box.
