my biography

Musician, producer, and all-around genius. I love computers, surround sound, and general purpose noisy things. I'm lead singer of The Cassandra Complex and Sun God; and have worked with acts such as The Sisters of Mercy, Die Krupps, Girls Under Glass, LTJ Bukem, Future Sound of London, and probably more that I've forgotten to list. I've also worked closely with companies like Steinberg and DTS for many years.

my sounds

Title: Oya
Rodandpatty
Description: By my other band, Sun God. This one is from our first album.
Title: Nothing Personal
Tag_cover_sm
Description: A small sweet little song I did entirely at home late one night... Later appeared on the Twice As Good CD single.
Title: Bad Faith
Wetware_sm
Description: From The Cassandra Complex album "Wetware". Features the MI-7 user t|o|m on rather fabulous lead guitar.
Title: VALIS
Wetware_sm
Description: From The Cassandra Complex album "Wetware". Based on the work of Philip K. Dick, may peace be upon him.

my influences

Electronic, industrial, gothic, alternative rock. And lots of it.

From the forthcoming live album "A Thousand Points of Light". Recorded live at WGT Leipzig 2007. Directed by Keith Langley. Produced by Rodney Orpheus. Mixed at CXHQ Manchester, Feb 2008.

My son, Lewis has Asperger Syndrome (a form of Autism). He was also diagnosed in April 2008 with Myasthenia Gravis, a very rare complex neuromuscular auto-immune disorder with approximately 100,000 cases diagnosed worldwide and for which there is no cure.

The video from my CD, "Countdown to Midnight" for "The Mad Hatter" has been posted at YouTube! Everything we do through the "Midnight In Chicago" initiative I founded and created to help individuals and families dealing with Autism.

We have learned that auto-immune disorders are diagnosed in 46% of immediate families where there is a child diagnosed with Autism. Auto-immune disorders are diagnosed in only 26% of extended families where there is no diagnosis of Autism.

Help us raise awareness of Autism and funds for Autism Organizations by being part of our Street Team who forwards information to others who may be interested in making this world a better place in 2009 for individuals and families dealing with Autism.

I am asking you to pass this link along to your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances.

Thank you and all the best for the holidays.

Oya is interesting stuff: hypnotic and very creative. Influences from church music? This kind of music opens musically new dimensions.

Great to have you as a friend. Great Big F'n Sound.
I was born in Nottingham. I think it's time I got back to my British Roots. I just came across FSOL stuff last night, blew me away. Any how brother great work.

Thanks for wanting to be my friend! I enjoy especially the openings of "Oya" and "Valis", reminds me of Gregorian chant.

Hey, Rodney.
Merry Christmas. Just wanted to let you know that the Mi7 community changed my life, this year. Your forum helped me re-discover a side of me (musical), I thought was long ago buried. Thanks for your great work. Good luck to you & the very wonderful Mi7 in 2008. RTQ

Hi Rodney,
there are no movements in the 30 charts since some days. Is that possible? I don´t think that all people already have chosen their favorites...May be technical problems?
Greetings to you Blue Planet

Hi there! Thanks for the heads-up on the server issues, figured I'd come by and give a listen- the minute I saw a song titled "VALIS", I was already predisposed to like your stuff, being a PKD fan myself... I'm really enjoying the variety I'm hearing, from the intriguing mix of birdsong, urgent rhythm and ritual sounds of "Oya", to the sly, frosty seduction of "Nothing Personal", to the dark industrial decadence of "Bad Faith" and the insistent hook of "VALIS" , it's all done with conviction and attention to detail.

Just seen you are online! How are you? Sounds like you have been busy. Always wanted to play Whitby but don't think Fire In The South is the band to do it with; nowhere near dark enough.

Been really bad at keeping up with this site but just logged on to put another couple of tracks up, the two sides of our current double A side single: Father and Comfort; see what you think. Guess we are not doing too well in the contest (not in the top 30 anyway, probably because I haven't spent ages making friends on here)

Wondering if I should put those tracks up instead of Venetian Theme and End of Time as England has gotten most praise. Would value your opinion.
