In his early years Christian Rother learned to play several wind and string instruments, sometimes involving lessons at the young people's music school (Jugendmusikschule) in Frankfurt. As the next step, Christian played in school bands where he was also in charge of composing and arranging. He soon found out that audio engineering was the field where he wanted to make his mark. In 1997 Christian did an internship at the municipal theatres/ballet of Frankfurt under William Forsythe. He gathered experience in studio and stage work, with further responsibility for equipment installation. During that time, which was partly spent abroad for guest performances, he worked inter alia with Heiner Goebbels, Ensemble Modern and William Dafoe. Thanks to his talent and commitment, Christian was offered and took up further employment with the municipal theatres.
To enhance his technical knowledge, Christian did in 2000 an apprenticeship in IT systems electronics with Deutsche Telekom AG. After around 5 years in the distribution service of Deutsche Telekom he changed within the company group and worked for some time as an internet publisher for P&R of T-Systems International. In the further pursuit of his initial aims, Christian then studied audio engineering at the SAE in Frankfurt. In parallel, he did an internship in the advertising sound studio Acoustic Department where he gained more in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience. After completion of his studies at the SAE and at the end of his internship with Acoustic Department – that had been extended due to Christian's outstanding achievement – he set up in 2005 the company der klang.
