my sounds

Title: StoneCold - O.R.C.U.S
Dsc01048
Description: This is a draft version of the first of 3 songs I recorded with the Belgian hardcore band O.R.C.U.S (our rage can unleash suddenly !). We recorded in an improvised studio in a youth movement house. Fun to do ! It's raw, powerful, honest and straight in your face. Enjoy ! Check their website www.orcus.be.
Title: Victor's doing fine
Noalbum_80
Description: Draft version of an instrumental song. Build around a rhythm pattern suggested by my 15 year old son Victor, hence the name. Still thinking about vocals, and looking for a real pianist to play the piano solo (or any real musician to play a real solo!).
Title: Pocoto - remix
Noalbum_80
Description: A remix, using some drum and keyboard loops + soloist fragments of the original. Added bass, drum sounds and synths. Was fun to do it.
Title: Tutti gli animali
Noalbum_80
Description: Just a sketch of a children song, in Italian. I offered it to a friend's little daughter for her birthday.
Title: Pocoto
Mi7_artwork
Description: Composition of Brazilian bass player Jose Alvaro, interpreted by his group Mind Priority. Drums and basic rhythm tracks recorded at SAE-Brussels, saxes and other add-on stuff recorded at home. Recorded and mixed in ProTools, mastered with Waveburner. Wonderful musicians, all it needed to sound good was to put a microphone in front of them !

my influences

initially : 60's and 70's (hardrock - symphonic rock - fusion - mainstream pop)/ inbetween : some classic / later on : funk / recently : jazz - acid jazz - latin - folk / (but actually everything that sounds good)

Hi Ivo, thanks for your vote.
The intro of 'Victor's doing fine' reminds me a lot of Steely Dan's music. I like it, especially when the other instruments are introduced, filling the piece with their own energy. The addition of vocals may indeed improve it, or an instrumental melody line for that matter (sax or electric guitar).
Pocoto is a professional piece. I've nothing to add to this. Besides that, jazz has never been able to become my thing, if you don't mind me saying this.
All best wishes and success in the business,
Richard

Nice recordings btw. I forgot to mention them before.
I Like POCOTO, although the kick is a bit up front and too fat for a jazz tune. But that's just my taste.
Great musicians! Must be a privilege to work with them.

Hi grooves,

Yeah, it's terrible to work on an SSL...:)
Thanks for voting.

In Rotterdam we now also have a VTC 32 channel console and a D-Command. The VTC is great for tracking and the D-Command for editing, although at home I work with Samplitude V10. The best audio software I worked with so far! I blows PT away :)

Hi it grooves, and thanks a lot for your kind words about "Total Daneben", yes Sara is a killer in front of a mic. Well I guess Flamish is as unfunky as German at the end - hehehe - your songs are in fact also some awesome fusion stuff. And yes G.Duke and S. Clarke have been some of our influences on total Daneben.

Hey there it, cool grooves, really like Pocoto. Also listened to Vincents Doing Fine. I agree, would suit some natural playing and a vocalist to augment the electronic sound. Nice mix.

cheers, niteshift

Hi, my favourite is the remix of Pocoto - great jazz rock - who is playing the woodwinds ?

I am listening you works again and enjoying it! Your music studio is awful!
In August I will visit the family in South África, and a nephew that has a professional studio of music, I am very curious.
I am waiting to listen more works from you!

bem, vamos lá a ver se percebe português, achei muito contagiante a canção, as vozes muito bem colocadas, canção simples, mas muito bonita. Quanto ao Pocoto está um espectáculo!
