It seems like a cliche now, but Ritchie Blackmores guitar riff for the intro of "Smoke on the Water" was what first kindled my passion for music. At the time I was around 11 or 12 years old, and I remember feeling the hair on my neck stand on end, at the sheer energy coming from the record player. (Yes, it was that long ago!)
And even better than that, adults hated it!! cool!!!
For the next few months I tried to master the riff,(on the E-string only) on a borrowed acoustic guitar/egg slicer.
Bought my first real six-string (that could be a song)It was an Avon "Telecaster copy" which I played through various practice amps, until I left school, got a job and could afford some serious toys. (Substitute "serious" for LOUD)
My favourite set up was a Gibson flying V straight into a Marshall JVC 100 and 2 4x12 cabs.
I've played in various styles of bands over the years, from rock material to cover/wedding bands, but have always written and recorded my own songs.
For the past couple of years I have been writing and recording with my good friend Jonni Lopez. (check him out, he's a member)We are currently looking for musicians in our area to gig our songs.
I recently obtained a degree in Audio Technology at Glasgow Caledonian University, and am currently looking for work in the industry.
Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Zeppelin, Dan Reed Network, Floyd, Zappa, et al
