Michael Harris is a Graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston USA, where he acquired a Bachelor of Music Degree, in Music Synthesis/Contemporary Writing & Production, with voice as his main instrument. After completion of this degree, Harris was offered the opportunity to be the main vocalist with an Ice-skating company called Holiday On Ice In Concert. For three years [2000 2003] he toured Europe and the United Kingdom, as soloist with the company performing to huge audiences in such countries as Germany, France, Belgium, Greece, Austria and Switzerland. Harris, a prolific songwriter and creative artist, has honed his skills in musical arrangement, composition, recording and performance and has produced & recorded his own CD Ten Thousand Miles. While at Berklee, he further developed and expanded an interest in folklore and folk music, taking classes in Santeria/Bata Drumming [Cuba], Brazilian percussion and harmony, Steel drumming as well as South Indian percussion. He has also demonstrated leadership in this area, being the student coordinator of the International Folk Festival at Berklee for two years. Michael has written for other artists as well and has sung on recordings with and for Nadine Sutherland, Chalice, Buju Banton, Assassin, Tony Rebel, Marcia Griffiths to name a few. Harris has formed the creative partnership-JOY MECHANICS with high-school friend and fellow LPTPC and Ashe Ensemble Alum- Michael Holgate. Together they produced a single for Kiwanis and UNICEF in 2004 'This Time Is Yours' which featured the talent of Marcia Griffiths, Suzanne Couch and Assassin among others, and in August 2005 JOY MECHANICS released their first album 'BLESSED-the Beatitudes in chorus' In 2006, Michael joined the faculty of the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts as lecturer in voice and production at the Jamaica School of Music.
