my biography

I've been composing electronica since childhood, and finally about 10 years ago started the process of going professional with it. I'm very active at RealWorldremixed.com which is Peter Gabriel's brainchild. If you'd like to hear my page over there it's at:
http://www.realworldremixed.com/
remixer.php?remixer_id=E5EZb68XmNhvlUMA_Fo.
I now have a free EP available at
http://20kbps.sofapause.ch/releases.htm
and a free maxi-single featuring Norbert Croonenberg and Heather Anderson at http://ouim.net/releases/ouimnet036/
Happy listening
Steve E aka Synthetic

Here's a recent music video I made to a Synthetic tune called Underwater

my sounds

Title: Dancing Snowflakes
Syntheticwinterep
Description: This is available on the higher bit-rate version of my Winter EP available for free at: http://ouim.net/releases/ouimnet053/ This song features tasty stretched analog synth and boy's choir mixed with various drum loops and even a snow shovel snare. This song gets pretty trippy around the 3:00 mark when the stretched sounds are smash-panned. The guitars in last 1/4 of song are an homage to Cocteau Twins.
Title: AMinorTheory&Synthetic-FlyingDreamNumber7
Cloudfractal01
Description: Lights fade in the distance time to lay down and sleep. Feel the heartbeat in a pillow sets the rhythm of the sleep. Dream in blue coming clearer flying through the clouds and above to the blue. Through rain and through sunshine floating in the blue. All is becoming blurry now a pulse is breaking through. Waking to the sunlight and birds outside the room. A higher resolution version can be heard at http://aminortheory.com
Title: Del Fiume Po (Featuring Heather Anderson & Norbert Croonenberg)
Riverpo
Description: This song is part of a collaboration between Synthetic, Heather Anderson and Norbert Croonenberg aka Have Mercy. Some special thanks to Spinmeister and Loveshadow for advice and support.
Title: Watermark
Synthetic3logo
Description: A little dance number with lead vocals by a no-budget natural voice reader. Demon Seed meets OK Computer.
Title: Fresh Air
-zero00456g
Description: Made to make feel like traveling a coastal highway in a convertible. The sun is warm, the breeze is cool and the ocean is always in view. Inspired by Kraftwerk and New Musik. 120 bpm or 60 mph

Interesting atmospheric music. I liked the air in Dancing Snowflakes. In FlyingDreamNumber7 the sound stretching is carried out very skillfully. Best regards!

It's always worth a try to combine two things that don't work on their own. And the Fripp & Eno connection most probably comes from the Frippertronicesque nature of the eBow guitar pieces, which was intentional. It is always nice when people recognise such an intention. Thanks!

EVPs? Sounds interesting already. And collaborating with HaveMercy and Colab sounds even more interesting. Another gathering of talent. Get well soon.

Hi there! I was profile-surfing, and came across you... I have to tell you, "Watermark" really made me smile, I'd been toying with making SAM the lead singer on a track myself! Great stuff, and love the sense of humor evident.

Hi Steve, how are you today? Thanks for your friendship at Mi7. Came by to listen and vote. Quite a task: so much talent about here. I'm particularly fond of your 'Del Fiume…' It's the kind of music I myself never would make, but which I do admire. Like 'Fresh Air' it's very pleasurable to listen to. I gave both compositions 10 points.
Hope you'll find some time to listen to my songs and vote for me…
Succes and good luck with the contest!
Greetings from the low lands of Holland,
Richard

Hello Steve,

A good remix of a good song (I'm ofcourse referring to your Rubber Duck...eh Dub remix of DJ Rkod's Pulse). Very nice. Good luck in that contest. Are you planning to remix the other songs too?

Best wishes,

Michel.

Lovely flyingdream mix ... in fact there is a lot of dreams here ... I do believe you`re always dreaming ... beautiful soundscapes and fresh air.
I too have a tune about dreaming and I have just reproduced, remastered and reloaded all my songs. If you have the time to spare please come over, listen and tell me what you think.
Take care!

love the joint effort between you and colab, too - both of your touches are there and work together exquisitely well!

Hey Steve - thanks for your comments - really appreciate it.
Funny you should mention Jon Hassel - I was a huge fan way back when of his collaborations with David Sylvian and later Stina Nordenstam. Thanks for reminding me. :)
