my biography

Born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq, until the age of 7 years old. Then I lived in England and Canada for many years, and also lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, from 1989-2001. Now I'm back in Canada, living in West Vancouver, British Columbia, working as a sound-designer and music producer ... at the same time having general fun and leisure.

Most importantly, I am now taking a lot of time off to produce my debut triple-CD album. I'll go outside into the real world when its complete.

As you can tell by my name, I'm an Arab-Canadian .... meaning that I'm a hyphenated identity who's seriously stuck in the twilight zone, right in the middle of it.

I'm very friendly person who gives everyone a chance. Because people have taken advantage of me and mistaken my kindness for weakness, I have become a very non-trusting, anal-retentive, compulsive-obsessive, and ironically more friendly and passionate person, with a weird sense of humor and with a dual personality that swings sanely into moods from one end of the spectrum to the other, while chasing nuns & nurses around the park.

However, I thrive to be a great scientist of acoustics, professional engineer, and producer who forever continues to learn, cope and understand the endless supply of knowledge of science and physics of sound and theories of music, continuously trying to break new grounds by experimenting, using every kind of technology possible, coming up with clever tricks, programming, and sound-designing the world's most advanced musical tracks with timeless life-spans -- for the deepest joy and pleasure of pure listening purposes. I will try my best to groove you.

Listen to the tracks in following order:

(1) An Affair To Remember
(2) Hedinas Part 1 & 2
(3) Tutumaraia
(4) Tranquil (vocal)
(5) Tranquil (instrumental) ... you hear more elements

my sounds

Title: Affair To Remember
Cats03
Description: Track nowhere complete. Just the idea. It's about the torrid love-affair i had between me and my female siamese cat, Mika, who sadly passed last november 2007. i was so devastated. i am still heart-broken and miss her very very much. Mika will always be in my heart. ------------- here's a photo-album of her last few days >>> http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=20178&l=0c96b&id=559980739 <<< ----------- just so you can feel how emotional and powerful it all is ..... and how i'm translating it to the melody of this track. ------------ the reason why i have not finished this track is because i get too emotional in the process, and i'm left overpowered and helpless, becoming too painful for me to continue. ---------------- i know it sounds crazy, especially over a cat, but i love animals so damn much. the bond between animals and humans is unreal and beautiful.
Title: Hedinas Part 1 & 2 (2007)
Funny-kittens
Description: Programming, sound-design, mixing, & mastering: OmarHash. -------- Acoustic & Rock Guitar: Alan Moon. -------- Electric Guitar & Eventide: Phil Western (Skinny Puppy). -------- TOTAL RUNTIME: 12min 44sec. -------- STYLE: Driving electronic epic with serious automation. -------- TEMPO: 112BPM. Too bad Mi7 has max 10MB uploads, because I had to compress this 12min-45sec track down to 96Kbs at low VBR. In any case, you can listen to this track at high-resolution on my site www.CaveCyberNation.com
Title: Tranquil (instrumental)
Kouhashmyspace04
Description: Latest instrumental version
Title: Tranquil (remixed 2007)
Kouhashmyspace04
Description: same as the other Tranquil but with more changes. Sounds better.
Title: Tutumaraia
Photo04
Description: This track goes synth-syncopation crazy from the 3:34 mark. -------- Background vocals by Kou (Kou Music). -------- Vocoder: OmarHash. -------- Programming, sound-design, mixing, & mastering: OmarHash. -------- TOTAL RUNTIME: 8min 27sec. -------- STYLE: Virtual Enigma-esque + Cruise-driving bassline with rolling synth arpeggio-sequence. -------- TEMPO: 89BPM.

Thank you for your friend request, I haven't been in here for a very long time, therefore I did not know there was a request in here :)

Not at all jealous at your studio set-up ;)

I love your re-edited version of Hedinas 1&2. But even without the re-editing it is still one of my favorites that is placed in my mp3 player and car Hifi (the other tracks too, especially the DJ mixes!)

Sorry to read about the loss of your cat. I love cats too even if I don_t have any pets. But my collegue has three and our common working sessions are interrupted a lot because of the crazy and cute cats, they need a lot of attention but they give back a nice and special atmosphere.

Hi Omar,

It would be a shame if you would not come up with anything decent with that kind of gear. What a nice studio (and above that a mac-man...).
Fortunately you do produce some great tracks here. I definitely love Tranquil, and I have voted for it.
The instrumental tracks are a bit less my taste, but that is personal, and they are very well done. You're a pro.
Wishing you all the best,

Jef

Hi there! I was just profile-surfing, and stumbled across you... Wow! Everything about you is BIG! (Well, maybe not your waistline) Big studio (drooool..), big influences list (which had several listings I loved to see, and don't see often), and big tracks! The sheer fact that you can put a 12-minute opus up as one track and still have it sound fantastic should be all anyone needs to know... Everything sounds amazing, I especially liked "Tutumaraia", shades of H. Hancock's "Rock It" in there, 80's 80's 80's! You can go listen to my stuff and enjoy remembering what being an amateur was like, if you're bored- just don't hurt yourself laughing too hard ;)

Wow you`ve got a lot of gear and you know how to use it. Great vocals and rhythms. The Remix is my favorite.

"Tranquil" is great quality. When the song doesn't get in the way of the experience, it becomes a moment. Keep up the great work.

Hello Omar!

Well I am not sure what you mean. My comment above is still here to read (the comment to your 54min hour remix), but I received two messages from you that didn´t appeared though on my profile. There was nothing to read. May be you meant them and deleted them by error?
member image TheJoe | about 1 year ago
Always forgot to mention that I love your "Maze-Joy and Pain""remix" in your "54min Hour" mix. My little nephew (9 years old) is still a fan of you! He heard some of your music today on my mp3 player. He said: "It sounds so crazy and funny!"
So young but still with a good taste. :-)

Hello Omar!

I want to say thank you very much for your warm comments and compliments. I didn´t expected that from a real pro producer and so I appreciate it a lot.
And thanks a lot too for the George Duke links. I remember now that I purchased last year the G.Duke "Live in Tokyo-1983" DVD and gave it to somebody else for watching. I think these videos were all taken from this DVD that I can recommend to watch.
And your DJ-mixes that you have posted on MySpace are still on my mp3 player. I gave this link of your mixes to a few friends. I guess you have now a few more fans in Germany! :-)
I think you presence on Realworldremixed would enrich this site a lot. So can we say a welcome there? I hope so!

Thanks again!
Joe

Hi Omar, thanks very much for your nice comments about my music. If someone like you says such nice things this is a real compliment. Well voting is taking place on the contest pages and easy to do - the contest which you attended is already over and I realised that your song did not make it which is a shame. But probably next time you'll have more luck.
member image mattreasor | about 1 year ago
Your music is awesome man!! And your bio is totally heartfelt, I feel the fourth paragraph more than you know. Keep up the great work and I hope you win.
member image Mindmovie | about 1 year ago
Hope that one of your songs will win the contest. This is sooooo great - I voted Tranquil - 10 points mate. If there would be 20 I would have rated it 20 !!!! This can probably not be done any better by anybody on this planet.
