my biography

Little green started out as a duo by Thomas Pontén (mandolin/guitars/vocals) and Andreas Johannesson (vocals/guitar) sometime late 2004. At first in more of a Singer/songwriterstyle but gradually they transformed into a country/bluegrass-act. Soon they felt the duoformat to be a bit limiting and they extended the duo to a quartet as Karl Wassholm (upright bass/vocals) and Andreas Kjellberg (percussion/harmonica/mandola/vocals) joined.

Little green gets their own sound through their wide range of influences and a fair amount of disrespect for tradition. Influences include: Nickel creek, Crooked still, Dixie chicks, Darrell Scott and Neil Young. Their music can be labelled as “Altgrass”.

The band have had a number of gigs around Gothenburg and in Stockholm. Their fanbase is growing steadily. In september 2006 they participated in Country-SM in Salen. They came in as second in the alt country-genre. Little green have just finalized their first album!

Hey just listened to your music for the first time in the contest. Although country anf folk is clearly out of my comfort zone of things I can really authentically play I love to hear such good old handmade songs. A strong Melody and a very nice feelings. Great stuff give us more
