Frankfurt Musik Messe 2008

What a great Musik Messe this year. Steinberg introduced 3 new hardware products designed by Steinberg/Yamaha (816 MRX, 816 X Firewire converters and DSP processors and the CC121 controller) - great integration with the Cubase range of products - available Q3 - prices to be announced. SSL launched 2 MADI eXtreme Cards (64 and 128 channels) and the brand new Duende PCI-e Card (shipping!). SSL Pro-Convert is a software DAW project-conversion tool (PC Windows) what every studio needs! Much more to come (brands + products) when all agreements are finalized ... Ciao - Jan

MI7 ALIVE Event 2008

Yesterday, February 10 - for the 3rd time already, the 2008 Benelux MI7 Music ALIVE Event - a great event and meeting spot for professionals and music enthusiasts, a day full of workshops and new product presentations (SSL, Vicoustic, Steinberg, Propellerhead, Ableton) spread over 5 Seminar suites with etc. In the BIG Seminar suite special workshops from: Simon Grey (Propellerhead) about the new Reason 4 and Refills (Abbey Road and Drums), Mr. Friedemann Tischmeyer (Tischmeyer Publications) writer and designer of the famous tutorial DVD's and Books 'Internal Mixing' and 'Mastering' techniques, Renier Vreugde (Teach Music) and Cristoph Stepan (Steinberg) gave continues one-to-one Q & A around Cubase 4 the new Cubase Essential 4 and SEQUEL, Auke Ferwerda and Chris Beemster (Duotone) gave a super workshop about the new Ableton LIVE 7 SUITE + New Ableton Instruments and SSL Mr. Jim Motley about Duende, Pro Convert and the brand new SSL Duende MINI. What really struck me is the enormous hunger of the end-user to learn more about their soft and hardware, special recording techniques for DAWs, the overall professional level of the visitors and the joy they have to talk to other users and people from the industry. For us it's great to offer this platform and meeting spot and to learn how they all use their software and gear in their own unique way.

247 visitors attended the ALIVE Event this time and we all had a great time on this beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon!

AES New York last weekend

AES Show at the Javits Centre NY was great this time. I've never seen an AES Show so busy and crowded from of the first hour. SSL showed new Duende X-EQ plug-in and SSL Pro Convert. Steinberg Nuendo 4 and the new (and free) Cubase 4.1 version, Apogee DUET and ENSEMBLE mobile, Ableton LIVE 7 etc. etc. So many new products, companies, contacts and meetings! On top of that New York is an amazing city - yes I did an early morning jog of 45 minutes through Central Park on the Monday. Ciao - Jan

Business as usual

The smoke is gone, dust has fallen down. Monday we felt like running the marathon - yesterday all was back to normal. Response is overwhelming and we have so many ideas about the upcoming MI7 ALIVE Event in February 2008. We have meeting to do 3 club-events around Ableton LIVE in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp executed before the summer (April?) and 2 Producer Workshops around Propellerhead Reason. MI7 Music A'LIVE Event 2007

It was an amazing day! We had 200 visitors and the main demo room (cap. 150 seats) was packed during the demo's and artist performances. e-Legal, the native dutch singing hip-hop band was interviewed by Rene Lenting (DIVE) "Musician interviews Musicians" and showed their latest video clip and performed a couple of songs from their brand new CD "Ritueel Uit Eigen Brein' completely made with Cubase 4 and REASON - DJ Lamont and VJ Kanter gave a flaming performance how to mix vinyl into Ableton LIVE 6 - http://www.realtablist.com/ Luke Mourinet (half producer and remix duo RUFF & Jam ~ with Jean Marie Moens) did a really fascinating workshop about the "ins and out's" of making remixes using audio parts of Kylie Minogue and the Bob Marley remix "Is This Love?" all that in Cubase 4, Nuendo and Reason. http://www.ruffandjam.com/ Rene Lenting (DIVE) did another "Musician interviews Musician" performance with Edwin Koelewijn (half of Ernesto VS Bastian) whom showed audio and video clips of their recent singles. All these performances were mixed between the serious workshops of Cubase 4 - Ableton LIVE 6 - Reason 3 + Refills - and a superbe in-depth workshop by Jim Motley - talking about the history of SSL and demoing the SSL Duende and new SSL MADI converters. The whole day was filmed by Scratchleague TV and a MI7 ALIVE Event 2007 footage can be seen on You Tube next week.
