I set up a small ruby daemon that takes pictures using my isight cam every 30 seconds. This video showcases about 5 hours of my work day. I plan on making a gigantic movie that spans the course of the work week... maybe even the month. 617 images.

I recorded a song with a friend this weekend. We decided to cover Porcupine Tree's Feel So Low masterpiece.
You can listen to it in my profile music player, or you can download it below.
We added a bit of a Sigur Ros and The Frames vibe. I think we made it 'our own'.
Just uploaded a new song. It's called "Bend the Light (We'll be alright)" and is for a project called "Plans for Radar".
Influence corner for this song would include Peter Gabriel, Chroma Key, Mogwai, Radiohead, and NIN.
So what are you waiting for? The song is in my profile music player... Or you could download it.
I wrote and recorded a new song this past weekend (which is what I do every weekend!).
My friend and I are going to lay some vocals down this coming week for it.

What do you think?
Being the complete nerd I am, I decided to conjure up a youtube clone where I can upload videos, it converts them, and spits out a converted video in a player. Here's my first attempt at it. It just so happens the video is recording related, so I decided to post it here!
The video is of my friend Dan recording a guitar part to a new song we're working on.
I decided to start a new side project called "Zam Ka Pow!" (http://myspace.com/zamkapow). It currently only consists of me. You can hear a sample of what Zam Ka Pow sounds like on my main profile page. Just recorded this tune today. It's not totally complete, but you get the idea. If you dig bands like !!! (chk chk chk), NIN, or Ratatat, then you'll dig this.
Rock.
Awesome video from Cory Doctorow on self determination and the large picture, relating to technology mostly. Cory Doctorow is probably best known for http://boingboing.net/. Check out his blog http://www.craphound.com/
I've got a show tomorrow in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (about an hour from where I live). Should be fun. Haven't played out in awhile because I haven't had the time, so I made time. Sometimes you just gotta do that for yourself.
We've got about an hour to play, so we picked 9 originals. We'll see how many we get through.
Time to restring the guitar now, buy some new 9 volt batteries for the pedals (I keep it old skool), and of course buy some new guitar picks.
On another note. The pack of guitar picks I'm going to buy... yea... I bet when Monday rolls around I'll be missing every single one of those picks. lol
When my friends come over and use my bathroom, they usually come out understanding Ruby a lot better.

The tally:
1. 6 Ruby books
2. 1 MySQL book
3. 1 Subversion book (the book that's open)
The funny thing is every time I pick one of those books up I find something new. It's where I do my best reading!
I have so many more tech books not pictured. It takes a lot of reading to stay up to date in this computer programming field. It's all not coding. Coding is only 20% of the battle. The other 80% is reading.
What the heck? It's been snowing non-stop since Friday evening. It will continue all day today, tonight, and most of the day tomorrow.
If you look for "MSN" (near "JVL" and "DLL") on the right hand side of the map in the blue section, that's where I am.
Cars are getting stuck on the flat road as well as in my non-plowed apartment complex parking lot. The snow has covered half of the garage door to the entrance of the underground parking.
I took my Jem in the other day to get some fret work done, floyd adjustments, and some other minor fixes to it that I hate doing myself. I got it back yesterday and it plays like a million bucks. The frets feel... well, the way frets on a guitar should feel like! The vibrato and sustain are improved too. I've had this thing for 8 years and it's the best guitar I've ever played. I have a Wolfgang too, which ain't too shabby, but it doesn't play as nice as this machine.

So I was pretty happy to have it back. I thought to myself, "It's time to mic up the amp and write / record something". I get the mics set up, plugged in to my preamp, turn the preamp on and channel 2 starts buzzing. After a little cable testing and other diagnostics I realize channel 2 on the pre is dead :-( Now I gotta take that in... and I'm sure that's going to cost more than the fixes to the Jem. ~sigh~
I was reading stereogum today, "The Band To Watch" post in particular. Today's band to watch is a band from Trondheim, Norway, (in your area Dr. Mo?) known as the "New Violators". Now, I understand the majority of the MI7 Community is from Europe, so maybe you've already heard of them. ;-) ...to me though, they're brand new... and to be honest, these guys can rock.
They haven't even released an album yet! ...let alone recorded an album from what it sounds like. The MP3 below is just a demo apparently. Don't let that fool you though! Check it out.

It just so happened that last night Explosions in the Sky were on Conan. I couldn't find a video of their performance (which was incredible), so here's an older video of them performing in Austin, TX... which is still really good.
