Mit dem Wind - adaptation by Mindmovie featuring Sara England
Description: For my international "On the wind" project on myspace, I asked several people to write a version in their own language and style for my song. Mindmovie is the first to come up with a beautiful german version called "Mit dem Wind". The german speaking people will notice that is freely translated lyrics are really beautiful and at the same time true to the original. The music is, as we are used from him impeccable. Sara England's emotional singing goes straight to the heart. Amazing work by 2 great artists here on mi7.

Mit dem Wind Mit dem Wind

Ziehst du davon

gehst dahin im Flammenmeer

Feuer brennt so lodernd heiß

und mein Herz, gefriert zu Eis

Du bist fort

in eine andr’e Welt

Und dein letzter Gruß

verweht am Himmelszelt

Nie wusste ich das Morgenlicht

So kalt mir in die Seele sticht

Ich laufe weg

verberge mich

was immer ich auch tu

vergessen kann ich nicht

Die Zeit mit Dir hier Jahr um Jahr

All Dein Trost wenn ich mal traurig war

Auf dem Wind

und außer Sicht

Dein letzter Flug

In’s helle Licht

Das Feuer brennt ich bin allein,
doch am Ende werd’ ich bei Dir sein

Feuer brennt so lodernd heiß

und mein Herz, gefriert zu Eis

Bin alleine...

real world...
Stop dreaming and back to the real world... When we entered the contest we would never have guessed that we would make it into the last ten. Yesterday RW Studios became so close and today suddenly they were so far away again. Ann and I would like to thank everyone who supported us and voted for us. Jef

Voices, a small prayer for a new year
Dear friends,
I wrote a small piece of music this weekend.
I have called it "Voices, a small prayer for a new year". I hope 2008 will be more peaceful than the year we leave behind.
I wish peace, love and happines to you all. The song is downloadable on myspace, as a new year's present to all my friends, as a thank you for all your support. I might turn it into a song one day...

best wishes,

Jef

Stand up against music censorship
Since this is a community of musicians, I thought this was a good place to bring this under your attention: Imagine the world without music. Or imagine a world where we are told what to play, what to sing and even what we may listen to in the privacy of our own homes. That world already exists. In more countries that you might imagine, musicians and composers are under threat. And that threat is growing. In countries like Sudan, Afghanistan and China, violations of musician’s rights to freedom of expression are commonplace. In the USA and Algeria, lobbying groups have succeeded in keeping popular music off the concert stage, and out of the media and retail. In ex-Yugoslavia musicians are often pawns in political dramas, and the possibility of free expression has been aversely affected. Freedom is one of the post precious things we have, but too often and too easy we let it take away. We, musicians, can support our colleagues in their struggle against music censorship and oppression. For more information visit: www.freemuse.org

lost messages
Due to a technical problem with my Internet provider I have been without Internet connection for 2 days, and it seems that some messages sent to me got lost in cyberspace. If people have sent me something and I didn't respond, please accept my apologies and send the message again. Jef
More songs on Ann's MI7 page
Ann, my singer now has her own page here on mi7. Visit Ann's page on MI7 here. You can listen to more songs from our "Songs of Love and Loss" project, and hopefully vote for them. On her page is our new song Taken. This song is about dealing with the loss of a child, perhaps the greatest loss one can ever suffer. The song was inspired by an article in the newspaper. Roman Drowart told how he was dealing with the tragic death of his 2-year old daughter Luna. She was killed on the streets of Antwerp, together with her Malian nanny Oulemata Niangadou, in a racist shooting. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luna_Drowart
"When There's No Hope"
I have uploaded one of our new recordings and entered it in the Real World contest. We hope you'll like it and vote for it. Thanks, Jef & Ann
Whispers
A new love song, "Whispers" is now online.
These are the lyrics:

Whispers

The light in the morning dew
The sun leaves the horizon
Sparkles in the water
You lay your head on my shoulder
The softness of your lips
Delivers the sweetest kiss
While the whispers of the wind
Tell the leaves how to fall

You’re the one that I love
The smile behind my tears
And the whispers of the wind
Sing your name
You’re the one that I love
And when the wind
Will learn you how to fall
The tears behind my smile
Will write your name

In the golden light of dusk
Your words of love surround me
The softness of your touch
Overwhelms completely
A lonely star emerges
To tell about a thousand nights
How the whispers of the wind
Tell the stars when to fall

Oh, my love
If the wind should call
And all you can do is fall
I will be there
To catch you
I will be there
To be with you

Repeat refrain

innocence in the real word
I entered "Innocence" in the Real World contest. This meant I had to remove "All My Dreams", but I am planning a better version of this song, and people respond really well to "Innocence"... so maybe it will get some votes... jef

"In The Light Of The Sun"
Dear friends on MI7, you might want to check out my latest recording "In The Light Of The Sun". These are the song notes: “In The Light Of The Sun” is a song that is very dear to me. The song is about the passing of time, and how insignificant a human life is compared to cosmic scales. I wrote the basic melody a long time ago (in human terms at least...) on my very first piano when I was about seventeen. Over the years I kept playing this piano tune and a few years ago I turned it into this song. Like all my songs it has a certain sadness in it, although I don’t consider it as a sad song. It is more a song about acceptance, letting go and humility. It begins with a person who tries to hold on to a lost loved one, smelling the fading scent in his clothes and dwelling into her memories. But, eventually - like everything - the scent will fade away. The memories of our memories will dissolve into time, “and all that we are is a speck of dust dancing in the light of the sun”. While I wrote this song I often had the image of particles of dust dancing in the sunlight shining through an attic window. I wrote the backbone of this song with the guitars, harp and vibraphone ticking away time like a clockwork. Over this I wrote a waltz, like the dancing particles of dust in the light of the sun. Again, Ann did a great job on the vocals and her voice makes the song shine like a sun... I'm looking forward to hear what you think about it. Jef
