MI7®

I haven't finished any projects for a long while now. It is partly because of an illness I'm suffering from, which have taken a lot of energy from me. I honestly don't know when, or even if, there will be more uploads. One thing I do know, and that is that I want to create music.

I had to drop one of my project ideas for a while because of (as I percieve it) frequency rolling. a couple of patches seem to have a small frequency rolling, and these don't get along with any of the basses I've tested.

Or is it just in my head it sounds false? :)

Has someone else here run into this problem?

I'm looking for vst synths or effect plugins that could help me find or generate hard core techno base drums, snares and hihats. I can model some good base drums using the software I have today, but I would like to know if there is other good synths or effect plugins for this purpose. If you know of any, please let me know.

Yesterday I wrote a review on one of the items in my gear, and I want to give it some more notice since I'm very pleased with it. The item is M-Audios Oxygen 49, a 49-note keyboard and a very good product in my opinion. It is light-weight and easy to move and easy to plug/unplug using USB for both MIDI data transfer and power provision. Along with these good characteristics comes full-size velocity sensitive keys and assignable controllers (pitch bend and modulation wheels, 9 knobs, 9 sliders and 9 buttons) and of course a transpose controller. In addition there are 6 transport buttons (can be used if your host allowes it). The internal memory stores up to 10 presets. To handle more, I use the Enigma software, a preset editor and library program.

Some weeks ago I read what Mindmovie had written about a gater effect plugin. The plugin is StormGate 1 and is a free plugin. I've tested it a little now and I find it very good. Try it out if you like, the link to it's info site is http://www.araldfx.com/sg1/

Through a tip from Spirou I found an interesting free audio effect plugin called Glitch. You can choose between 9 adjustable effects, create and switch between effect patterns and add global effects. Go check it out, I found it at http://illformed.org/glitch/

During a short period now I've experienced the "lack of ideas"-desert. It is dry and boring there. Does all musicians stumble in to that zone sometimes? Or is it just me? :) No, I think other musicians also enter that old dry desert sometimes. After a while, we get out of it and hopefully we enter into the bubbling creation zone. I'm on my way there. Today I started a new music project. The first idea for it came yesterday evening. Nice!

MI7 is a great place. Before I came to MI7, I was thinking of how to find friends that share the passion for music and song with me. And then I got here. This place really seems to gather many of them. Some friendships has already started here and I hope that we will remain friends and share the passion. I also would like to create music toghether with friends here if the possibillites occur.

Today I've discovered that I'm a MI7 member :)

Well, that is not entirely true maybe. I became a member about 2 months ago. I don't know who registered me, but I think it might have been done automatically during either a registration for loops I did around that time or when I registered one of the software I've bought.  Well, when I got the first emails from MI7 I thought "I haven't registered there, not nice of them to say I did" and didn't check it further. Today I found a newsletter from MI7 and got to the site. Then I got curious and now here I am. Great place!
