I just realized my pitch is far from perfect cause I like your songs ... and the production is soooo slick ... shit I`ve got a lot to learn.
Actually I have just reproduced, remastered and reloaded all my songs. If you have the time to spare please come over, listen and tell me what you think.
Take care!

That's some good news. This means you put yourself right on track!

The parallel compression might do the trick.
Is it very common to use an AUX bus for that?
Point was also, we had little time with mic placement. That's a very bad thing, I know.
We had very little time to record the drums..:(

Thanks for the comment.
I also did an unnatural mix(that was my first intention), but in fact I couldn't get a good snaresound. There is a very ringing tone between 600 and 3k which is very anoying, especially when I tried to boost that freqeuncy to give the snare some more punch. I tried to compress it some more, but in fact that made it even worse.
I even got rid of the gate and tried a more natural sound and that did the trick for me.
But I'm never satisfied :), so I will try another thing. I will add an extra snaretrack, get rid of the frequency problem by EQ-ing and compress that a lot and mix it with the natural sound, maybe that helps.
SOTY sounds good BTW.
