SubliminalAtlas Reshaped
Glass

At last, I have finished my remix of Anchor's Atlas. Now, it may seem that I am on a roll here, but I started quite some time ago with both Atlas Reshaped and A Comforting Solution. Not that I have been working on both these songs all that time, but still, both were not exactly created overnight. Next up is a serious attempt at completing my version of Blind Date. This one I have been working on when I got stuck with everything else, but now it is time to try and finish it. read more...

I have finished another track for my Orpheus In Hell project. This one features Snowflake's spoken word piece Freedom, which is therefore the title of my song. You can also hear some excellent clarinet playing by Fireproof Babies, which he recorded specifically for this song. The track opens with a flute solo, originally called Still Life, which in its final version was inspired by the Dead Can Dance song Piece For Solo Flute from their splendid live album Toward The Within. I used a stretched and reversed version of my flute solo as an extra layer in the second part of the song. read more...

There is a new remix to be enjoyed. It's called A Comforting Solution and it's a remix of Artie Q's song Belief. I could waste your time by talking at lengths about it, but Artie has said it all here. The only thing I would like to add is that it was Duckett's drum loop which got the creative juices for this remix flowing again. So, thank you Duckett! read more...

There is a new track available for you to enjoy. It's called With Friends Like These and it features Synthetic aka Steve Engler on vocals and Edwin van Buuringen on lead guitar. I am planning to release the individual tracks for others to remix. I will probably upload mp3 versions to ccmixter and wave versions (including a wave version of the full mix) to the Internet Archive. But more on that later. read more...

Escaping the land of the dream stealer. Fleeing for my sanity. I'll be at home with the real dealer. I am who I wanna be. Fleeing the dream stealer; I'll be who I wanna be. I'm getting out of Dodge. Small minds don't dare to dream, because in reaching for the stars they are made aware of how far it is to fall, so they dont try. I say dream big dreams, people, and fear not the fall, nor heed the fool who laughs at those who do. The fool is only jealous, for in laughing loudest he hopes that others wont notice he has no dreams of his own. Nor the courage to pursue any. Fantasy, I'll make you my reality; I'll be who I wanna be read more...

All right Boys & Girls, I know what you’re thinking ... yes, I do. That I only do collabs with the Man/The Legend known as Mr. M. Right? Tho’ it may appear so, it’s not entirely true. Anyway, a few nights ago, I was communing with the delectable Mrs. Q; having a high old time, as is our want. “So ‘oos this Mindmovie, geezer, then? Says she. “My dear, please ... Mr. Mindmovie, to you.” “Got any ‘uver music by ‘im, then? ‘Ee’s pretty fab, in’t he?” “I should say his music is very wonderful, my dear. Now, would you pass the bottle of Epernay, that you’ve been hogging all night.” So, with a glass of bubbly in hand, I scoured the computer for more Mindmovie collaborations ... and up came this lil gem that had been hiding for a while. No sooner were the first 8 bars of the track filling the air ... well, Mrs. Q became envigorated—transported into another dimension. She was girating like a cat on heat; sexy dancing up close, next to me, glass of champers firmly clasped in one hand and me in the other. “Mr. Q, is this you singing? You are sexy, Mr Q. I like this song. This is groovy,” says she, “so groovy, in fact, I’m going to send it to my Dad ...” (???) The Story Continues ... read more...

This title features Sara England on vocals - she as well as myself have discovered what it means when you a re trying to build a "house of love" with the wrong person. After the rather easy June, July proved to be a more difficult piece to turn into something half-decent. And ofcourse I failed yet again. But what can one do, except hope for more luck the next time around. Anyway, 10 down and still 2 to go. I was hoping to finish the writing before september, which would mean that I would have been working on it for a year (well, more or less anyway), but the way things are going now I have serious doubts about making such a deadline. Not that it really matters. read more...

Well, that went rather quick, at least for me. Normally it takes me ages to come up with a half-decent result, but now it only took me four evenings…;-) Anyway, as you may already have guessed, I have finished another song. It's the remix of CG's June and it's called Deserts And Monsoons. Credit where credit is due, so here goes… Vocals: CG. Guitars: VG II. Drums: probably Tomas Haake. The rest: Yours Truly. 9 down, 3 to go. read more...

After trying a zillion different last things to add to the song and deciding on only drums from Trifonic's Broken for the chorus, and after freezing instruments, muting tracks, bypassing fx and exporting the song more times than was good for my mental health, I finally can offer you my remix of CG's May, called Hide The Fuse From The Fire. Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it. read more...

So, Mr. M sent me this backing track and immediately I felt it wanted to tell a story. I've had this idea for quite a while and I just needed the right opportunity ... and here it was. LYRICS: As a tiny speck of life, he had a big decision to make. Should he go forward or back? Up or down? Left or right? The determination, however, was made for him. A massive jolt to big mamma’s system sent him flying through a maze of underwater caverns. Murky tunnels beckoned him but he just went with the flow. Somehow he made it to shore and shimmied aboard a big white rock. “I’m so tired, I seem to have been swimming forever; if I can just lay here awhile and catch my breath, I’ll be better able to carry on.” So he lay his head down and the moment it hit that outer shell— “Wohhhh,” he found himself falling down, down, tumbling towards the bottom ... bottom of what, though? “Wait a minute, I’m not falling, I’m floating.” He was inside what seemed to be a big translucent egg looking out at the scene he’d left some moments ago. “Is this a dream?” THIS IS REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE. THIS IS REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE, NOWHERE TO HIDE, NOWHERE TO GO. THIS IS REAL LIFE. A storm was brewing outside, but he was nice and secure in his refuge. He waited and watched and conditions got worse. He didn’t want to leave but the membrane was getting thinner. Finally, the tide rose and carried him out into the ocean and the little balloon burst its skin in the angry waters, and he was back where he started. “Should I go forward? ... I think I’ll stay here.” He looked around for shelter. There was none. It was all the same—an underworld of wet shapeless form. There were bright lights and shrieks up ahead, and the big storm behind would certainly dash him against the rocks. “What to do, where to go? Best to wait ... surely, always best to wait?” THIS IS REAL LIFE. The noise suddenly got very loud. Terrifying screams bore down on him as if Armageddon was right around the corner. IT’S SO LONELY WITH NOWHERE TO GO, NOWHERE TO HIDE. ( REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE.) THIS IS REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE, REAL LIFE. THIS IS REAL LIFE. Though his innate sense was to stay perfectly still; like a man trapped inside a burning building who instinctively feels there is no choice but to jump, he turned and fled. Faster and faster he ran. “RAN, I’m running now—I’ve got legs. LEGS!” The snapping at his heals seemed to be gaining. The noise was deafening and the lights so raw, he could feel their heat. “I don’t want to die, if I could just find my egg, I could hide and make no sound and nothing would find me, nothing would hurt me. I‘m drowning in water, WATER? But I’m breathing. How? Nooo, they’ve got me. Big clamp ... on my leg pulling me. WAAAHHH, Nooooooooo—I Don’t Want To Dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” Some die at birth. Most live. Which is it to be for you? CHOOSE. Blinded by a light in a white sterile room, he was upside down and drowning in fluid, till a hefty slap kick started the baby’s engine into drive. He formed new sounds and gulped first breaths: He had chosen LIFE! read more...
