Finally I started working on a new music project again. As I wrote before, I needed to refurbish the studio since it was chaos, so I got rid of all nonsense and made my way to the computer again.
Since I had the new NIN album on today, I wasn't wondered I spit out some droning synth lines with a high Q'd piano in the background.....
I also wanted to check a pretty difficult song I was working on half a year ago to see if I could break it open (I have trouble with the arrangement), but since I put my main audio card into the new computer a while ago, I needed to install an older audio card first - and now it bluescreens on me when I install the drivers for it! Haven't had that in ages...
I think it's time to move all that stuff to the new PC, lets see whether NI Komplete 2 moves without trouble...
read more...(as you can see I am fiddling with some blog options)
It has been ages since I've actively produced some music. This weekend I'll start dusting off the studio so next week I'll have time and space to work on some recordings again.
I just got fully inspired again by listening to a friend's album. See below....
read more...Yesterday I came back from a loooong Frankfurt trip to finally sit on the sofa and zap a bit. There was a long documentary about the Black Sea and the people who live at the shore.
At some point, at the Krim peninsula, a local musician demoed his music in his garage studio. And what was clearly on his monitor? Nuendo 3! Yes! It felt good to see that fantastic product in a relatively remote area. The Krim is not that remote or un-modern, nevertheless you wouldn't expect it somehow. I love documentaries...
Nice touch....and great modern folklore music.
What does it look like when Patrick Bateman dated your mobile phone?
I think like this........you might imagine our faces when we found my wifes mobile phone like this yesterday morning.....
I was invited by my son (!) to join him to the Linkin Park concert in Hamburg last sunday. I'm not a huge LP fan but I like their Meteora album a lot, very catchy tracks with good energy in it.
We managed to get in the front rows by being there really early, and I can tell you it paid off!
We saw everything from up close, the sound was fantastic (unlike the AOL arena next door, I can dig the Color Line Arena sound - Bowie, Radiohead and Peppers all delivered a good sound there), and the 2 support acts were great in their own way: Blindside from Stockholm and 30 Seconds From Mars. First is a great "more classical" rock/metal band, and while30 Seconds couldn't really catch me, their show was really good and entertaining. For sure one of the better large concerts I've been at, I actually enjoyed jumping around between teenagers...

Brian English from Antares visited MI7 in Germany to demo the AVOX voice toolkit and Auto-Tune 5 in detail. While AT doesn't need any further explanation when it comes to manual or automatic pitch correction or its abuse à la Cher, AVOX is an impressive bundle for its price. Basically anything you would like to do with vocals can be done, and its done good. I recommend everybody to download the demo and try it out.
Also, the creative work that can be done with both Auto-Tune 5 and AVOX - not only on voice - is amazing. "Throat" from the AVOX bundle is a better sounding filter for drums then most EQ's or filter plugs I've heard so far. Go wild!
I changed my name and picture so I am more easily identifyable (?) as an MI7 agent. No secrecy here....
Ich habe meine name und bild geändert, damit ich weniger mysteriös wirke. Ähnlichkeit mit personen die sich unangenehm verhalten haben auf der Musikmesse ist reiner zufall....
Its a long time since I wrote something. Basically had a really bad flu and I'm still coping with a sore throat. I hope its gone before Musikmesse in Frankfurt next week. I'll also visit the family in the Netherlands over the weekend so I guess I won't have some rest and take it easy....
Anyway, I look forward to Frankfurt, always a good place to meet some fantastic people in this industry. You can find me at the SSL booth mostly, so if you want to meet me you just ask the SSL staff. Their reply will most likely be "look for the well-dressed coffee junkie in the coffee bar in 5.1". Which will make me very hard to find :D

Speaking of which: finally Scorsese got his much deserved Oscar, as well as "Das Leben der Anderen (The lives of others)". If you haven't seen it yet, go and watch it. Its brilliant!
I was at the zoo in hamburg with my daughter, it was a long time. What was pretty amazing is that it has not been since my own childhood that I saw a relatively common animal such as a male peacock actually show off its feathers. Timewarp!
Finally I uploaded some songs. Its all very old stuff, not even mixed, just a rough balancing of level and panorama (on headphones!). See my biography of what it is all about, they are actually historic tracks! I absolutely have no style, but most songs end up as some bizarre semi-electronic french roadmovie soundtrack kinda thing. I hope to get some more time soon to finish current songs (well, as in song ideas that have been rotting on HD for the last 2 years). Unless a petition is made against the public release of them, which I will fully accept. But its such fun to do!

The MI7 team had a meeting in Skanör, close to Malmö last weekend. Lots of hard work and a lot of fun, planning how to conquer the world, but foremost we discussed how to make this website even better. Therefore I'd like to invite all members to share their ideas with the MI7 team (especially Rodney), since some ideas are simple to realize and might even be implemented in no time. Don't hesitate!

You can insert pictures in your blog, but the picture needs to be available online and not as a file on your computer to be used by the MI7 blog. You can use Imageshack to upload the picture and use the link to that picture to insert in your blog. Its free! Have fun!
