- News just in is that Nokia have bought up Symbian, and intend to release it as Free Software (under the Eclipse Public License) as of today. As far as I'm aware Symbian is currently the most widely used Operating System in the world - there were 100 million phones running Symbian in 2006 - so this means that as of this moment Free Software is now more widely used than proprietary software. That's a pretty significant shift in the way of things, especially considering Symbian own 67% of the smartphone market, with Windows Mobile holding only 13%... read more...

I haven't been posting much in the past couple of months, mainly because I've been taking time to work on a new book and get some personal business stuff out of the way.
Things are looking interesting though... we've been approached about a new record deal, and asked to play some more festivals at the end of the year / beginning of next year. So the plan is to spend as much time as possible in the studio over the next few months and finally finish off all of the things that have been sitting on the hard drive for ages in a half-finished state.
So someday soon I might even get round to putting some new songs on the music player! :-)

- I was saddened yesterday to discover that a real nice net label that I have released 2 albums on seems to be calling it quits. The label is OUIM they were founded in Bulgaria in 2005 and have consistently offered some very fine electronica from all over the world. The quality is high on every release I have heard from composition to presentation of the final product, with very nice looking cover art and high bit-rate downloads. The label hasn't offered a new release since my early January offering called "Winter EP" and the site says we are closed, sorry. Fortunately all their fine music is still available there to download for free, and I strongly recommend the works highly. For killer modern hard stuff try Death On Glamours LP, and for the most atmospheric ambient check out any of Observation Point's releases. I can only hope, that continued support may bring this fine label back from closure. In the meantime, if someone can recommend a similar net label, I need a new home for my free albums. read more...

- We just moved our offices last week to Skanör a village 30 min outside Malmo. This is the first day up and running. Everything has gone smooth so far but we still have tons of boxes everywhere. But folks is still comin up to me on an almost daily basis and sayin, "Hey, Doghouse Riley, I understand all that but what about your "such-ness" or your "thus-ness"?? Explain that away with a smart-alek comment or somethin. Ain't ya even in touch with yor own interiority?? Hell, I bet ya are and don't even know it. Or, more likely, won't admit it. Why are ya such a dang contrarian all the damn time? What good does it do ya? To which I usually reply, wail my interiority is as shabby as the next fellers which means a good vaccumin wouldn't hurt but my "such-ness" is the same as yors. . .non-existent, you numbnuts!! Listen (I usually go on), I ain't got a shovel big enough to dig out from under that pile of bull. And neither do you. And don't go startin any tangential shit about captive synapse energy fields neither or I'm liable ta kick ya in the nuts. Course, I say that with love.
