colabNew collaboration track - Panu Moon
Colab_fat_tuesday

Hello world.

I've added a new track that I created for Panu Moon (ccmixter.org/people/panumoon/profile) - a more folksy traditional track than I have posted here before, but one that hits very close to home for me.

Hope you get a chance to listen to it - it features all "vintage" instruments (e.g., very nicely sampled instruments played on my MIDI keyboard):

  • Bass - Kay Hollowbody
  • Harmonium keys
  • Challen piano
  • Hammond RT3
  • Vintage drum kit

/ Mikael

I just finished up a longer collaborative project with two other musicians here at MI7.

It's called "Ghosts Inc." and is instrumental illbient type of music.

We have five tracks posted on the profile right now, and I would be very interested in hearing your comments on the music.  See community.mi7.com/profile/12178 for more info.

Thanks.

I've posted a new-ish track here, featuring the same vocals that Jenny Grettve here at MI7 provided for the Blake remix earlier. I wanted to hear the vocals in a new context, so I created all new instrumentals for them - and this is the result. read more...

The other day I was reading an articly about Robyn, swedish singer/composer/artist who on her own label now sells more albums in the US thanthe latest release from Madonna. Way to go! It shows what you achieve on your own with iron determination. I just hope she would become a member here as well, hint, hint... read more...

And again, for those of you who don't know me, by "remix" I mean "re-interpretation".  :)

I was lucky to get a chance to work on another original track by rocha here at MI7 (community.mi7.com/profile/1463), and this is the result.

We just moved our offices last week to Skanör a village 30 min outside Malmo. This is the first day up and running. Everything has gone smooth so far but we still have tons of boxes everywhere. Feels great though with a brand new place... expect us to be up to full speed again over the next few days.... read more...

So I have this problem with the number of available hours not matching the number of hours I believe I need to get stuff done.

My personal workaround is to spend as little time as possible on anything without completely compromising the work.  In that spirit, I've done a few remixes at ccmixter (ccmixter.org/people/colab), and have tried to keep them to about 6 hours of work (usually a Friday and Saturday night).

That means that there's a bunch of work out there in draft form that may come back to life at some point in the future and be refined then.  Until that time though, consider them ideas and a direction of where I'm going right now.

Spring finally arrived here in Malmö, we had a wonderful weekend and looks like we will have a great day today as well. Just re-discovered an old favourite of mine, swedish artist Eric Gadd. A lot of good memories from Hamburg and Stockholm and his stuff is still going strong. Highly recommended if you feel funky.... :-) read more...

We just launched a new contest here at the site, with the first prize being a Duende MINI. It really is a clever little box since it can be upgraded to a full-blown Duende later on. Perfect for productions on the go... Check the contest out if you are interested!

All the best,

So, another Frankfurt Musik Messe is over and the hangover and excessive eating  is over. Some of the highlights of the show, imho was:

1. SSL Matrix- Whoa! A complete SSL console and DAW controller for this money is simply too good to be true. Still a lot of money of course but it is an SSL....

2. The new hardware from Steinberg/Yamaha looks very cool indeed. I like the fact that we start seeing proper integration between hardware and software.

3.  The Presonus stuff also looks very cool! Both Monitor station and behind the glass mixer. Jim and friends always makes great gear.

4.  The new Vicoustic stuff, just amazing.

5. SM Pro Audio with VST in a box.

6. I think the biggest secret was the MADI card from SSL in conjunction with Alphalink. Better value for money ina pro system is hard to find.

colabTwo. More. Tracks.

Just added two tracks from my work-forever-in-progress called "Fat Tuesday".

I have had these two tracks around since I started working with Reason back in 2004, and they've followed me around in different shapes and forms ("loecus" was called "locust" at one point and had vocals for several version, if you can believe it).

Anyway - I'm getting close to nailing this sucker down.  Have settled on a number (14 tracks) and have been reworking all of them to make sure they're current.  These two are a preview of sorts while I get my act together.

I would like to be in front and congratulate the winners, The Cedars!

Incredible difficult decision, so much great music in different styles and a lot of fun discussions among the jury members. Anyway, I wish you a lot of success, a lot of fun and we will report and  bring all other members on the site in the loop how you are doing at Real World!

Thanks everyone for taking part, hope to see you again in future contests!

colabNew collaborative track (Blake, Jenny G and colab)
Colab_fat_tuesday
Jan 29, 2008 | 0 comments

This is a collaboration between MI7 artists Blake (guitars, noise and spoken vocals), Jenny G (vocals) and myself (instrumentation, drums and effects).

After my previous take on Blake's "Exoskeleton Landslide", we agreed to take a stab at "Lost ...", and I had this idea of having female vocals added to it - to which Jenny generously contributed.

It's a long track - 8 minutes long - but it should be worth the listen.

For more information, see:

- Blake (community2.mi7.com/profile/2525); and

- Jenny G (community2.mi7.com/profile/9076)
